The maximum is the instruction that matters
Anyone can publish “leave to work”. This publishes a maximum of thirty minutes, and that is the half that prevents damage.
A cleaner left until it dries concentrates as the water evaporates — that is when it etches, streaks or marks. A seller putting a ceiling on the dwell time is a seller who knows what goes wrong.
Three finishes named
Powder coating. Carbon. Matt paint.
Those are precisely the three that a strong general-purpose degreaser damages, and matt paint is the one with no way back: there is no clear coat to polish, so anything that etches it is permanent.
Naming them is more useful than “safe on all surfaces”, which every cleaner on this shelf says.
Why gel
A liquid sprayed onto a fork leg runs to the floor in four seconds. A gel stays on it for the thirty minutes it is meant to work. On a motorcycle — which is almost entirely vertical surfaces — that is the difference between cleaning the bike and cleaning the driveway.
