What the seller commits to paper

“Calibrated” is a different kind of claim

The German word used is geeicht — a legal-metrology term for an instrument that has been formally verified, not a manufacturer’s self-assessment.

That is a stronger kind of statement than a tolerance figure, and it is also less comparable: it says the instrument was checked against a reference, and it does not say to what tolerance.

The ETENWOLF gauge in this family publishes ±0.06 bar against ANSI B40.7 grade 2A, which is the other way of answering the same question — a named standard with a number attached.

The hose, and the dial

540 mm is the longest hose in this family. A motorcycle valve sits behind a disc, inside a wheel, at an angle, and hose length is what decides whether you reach it or move the bike.

56 mm of visible dial is published as a dimension, which on an analogue instrument is how fine a reading you can take.

What this tool is for

Filling a tyre from a workshop air line and reading it at the same time. It is the tool that gets used most and therefore the one worth having verified — which is what the calibration claim is about.
